RI’s Paolo Launches Big Heart Outlets for Online Deals for a Cause
Friday, May 16, 2014
Saving money, shopping local, and donating to charity in one consumer experience -- that's what 20 year-old Rhode Island resident Alex Paolo will offer when he unveils his digital company "Big Heart Outlets" later this month.
“What we do is provide consumers with deals to local businesses, so we’re kind of like Groupon or Living Social,” said Paolo. “Where we differ is we offer a list of charities and non-profits on our site, which customers can look through, and 50% of the profits goes to the charity of their choice.”
The company website bigheartoutlets.com is set to launch May 30th, and the company already has an app for the iPhone called GoGo Planet.
“In 5 years I see us at least in every major city across the country, as well as set up with national charities as well as local ones,” Paolo said. “Starting in Rhode Island, our plan is to branch into Boston and other surrounding cities by the end of the summer.”
Big Heart Outlets will host a fundraising event Saturday, May 17th to promote the launch of the site. The event is being held at Vanity Supper Club in Providence.
Tickets for the event are $25 at the door, which includes a buffet. There will also be raffles, a silent auction, and Big Heart Outlets merchandise on sale. While the event is a fundraiser for Big Heart Outlets, the company is staying true to form and donating a portion of its proceeds to the Providence Animal Rescue League.
